Where is Moristel grape wine made?

La Moristel is a grape variety native to the wine regions of Huesca and Zaragoza, being characteristic of the Somontano, sometimes it is considered the local variety of the Monastrell.

Because it is a late sprouting variety, its vegetative cycle is not harmed by spring frosts. Nor is it susceptible to mildew and mildew, although by precipitation in harvest time it could contract rot of the bunch. It is a vigorous plant in fertile and clayey soils, resistant to drought, but of low productivity.

The vine has a raised branch. The clusters are medium in size, compact but without crowding the berries. The berries are circular, small in size and blackish blue in color. They have a thin skin.

The red wines of the variety Moristel are wines of alcoholic graduation medium-high, have a dark layer of cherry color, with remarkable aromas of the variety. In the mouth they are light and of average acidity. The Somontano wines of young Moristel grape have a monovarietal vocation, although to reinforce the body of the wine is contributed with contributions of the varieties Tempranillo, Parraleta or Cabernet Sauvignon. In this way the wine will admit aging in a barrel.

Other denominations of the variety Moristel are: Juan Ibáñez, Concejón and Miguel de Arcos.
