Somontano Wines
The commitment to and prioritization of wine quality explains the positive trajectory of this Designation of Origin. The vineyards of the Somontano Designation of Origin have three distinct areas: the mountains, the Somontano, and the plains. It covers a total of 200,000 hectares, of which nearly 100,000 are cultivated. Of these, 4,400 hectares are dedicated exclusively to vines.
Somontano wines feature grape varieties from more than 4,400 hectares of plantations. These grape varieties are the basis for the creation of excellent Somontano wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Tempranillo, Syrah, Garnacha Tinta, Moristel, Parraleta, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Macabeo, Sauvignon Blanc, Garnacha Blanca, Riesling, and Alcañón are just a few.
Somontano is characterized by cold winters and hot summers, with significant temperature fluctuations in late spring and autumn. The average annual temperature is 11 degrees Celsius.
Somontano Designation of Origin wines have very distinctive characteristics: very good alcohol content, fruitiness, and perfect acidity. In short, these are wines well suited to today's tastes. Buying Somontano wine will give you exclusivity and confidence in knowing you've chosen the right wine.
