The Borsao Winery
Its origins date back to 1958, the year the winery was purchased from a private individual and the Borja Cooperative was founded, along with the original Borsao brand. The first bottles were sold in 1981, and the first exports took place in 1991.
A few years later, the Pozuelo and Tabuenca cooperatives joined the Borja cooperative, contributing their human resources and, most importantly, their vineyards. This merger was formalized in 2001, establishing a new company called Bodegas Borsao S.A.
The 700 members of the cooperatives and the management team spearheaded the founding of the new winery, beginning by establishing standards for vineyard care, harvesting, and grape reception, and continuing with a renovation of the winery facilities. Currently, there is greater professionalization, and we are now 375 winegrowers.
Technological capacity, modern facilities, the great potential of the vineyards, and a meticulous commitment to quality craftsmanship form the cornerstones of the winery, solidifying the BORSAO brand as the leading exponent of quality wines in our Campo de Borja Designation of Origin.
