Mytilus Albariño Designation of Origin

Rías Baixas is a designation of origin belonging to the Galicia region. Specifically, it encompasses the coastal area of ​​part of Galicia, including the provinces of A Coruña and Pontevedra, extending to the Vigo estuary.
The Albariño grape variety has been cultivated in these lands for over 1,000 years, and Albariño wines have been known to exist since the 12th century. It was from the mid-20th century onwards that this variety spread throughout the territory.
In the 1980s, the Rías Baixas Regulatory Council and the Rías Baixas Designation of Origin were created.
