Vespolina grape wines

Vespolina is a variety of Italian red wine that is planted in Piedmont around Gattinara and Ghemme. Ampelographer believes that the grape is probably indigenous. Vespolina or Ughetta is a red grape.
Since the 18th century it has been cultivated in Upper Piedmont (Novara, Vercelli and Biella provinces).
The distinctive characteristics of the plant are the small pentagonal leaf, the fairly compact and elongated cluster, the dark grape tends to black.
The resulting wine is characterized by a medium saturated bright ruby color, strong aromas of red flowers, spices and berries, good alcohol content, pronounced tannins of medium fineness, moderate acid tension.
