Advancing with determination and without haste, his philosophy has reached other lands; Unique lands from which special wines have emerged as the essence of its maximum expression.
Alión, whose name refers to the Leonese council where the Álvarez family patriarch was born, is located just 15 kilometers from the mother house and in a very similar situation, between the course of the Duero and the road from Valladolid to Soria, in the vicinity of the wine capital of La Ribera, Peñafiel.
Although the first vintages of this wine were made at the Vega Sicilia facilities, a new philosophy was applied to a wine that could not remain as the "little brother" of the great mythical wine, but had to be able to fly by itself and demonstrate the virtues of terroir, weather and variety of the Ribera del Duero.
