The Telmo Rodriguez winery

The project of Telmo Rodríguez and Pablo Eguzkiza was born in 1994, as they themselves admit, with few resources and many ideas. They made their first wine, Alma, in Navarra with Garnacha grapes, at a time when the trend was to plant Cabernet and Merlot, already demonstrating their strong personality. In 1995, they made a wine in Arribes del Duero with the Juan García grape, a high-quality but little-known local variety.

Grape variety used in Basa Verdejo wine

Variety: 90% Verdejo and 10% Viura
The grapes, harvested partly by hand and partly mechanically, are collected from different areas of the appellation of origin. The soils are limestone and gravelly. The pruning techniques used are bush and cordon pruning, and viticulture is reasoned.
Soils: Gravel from river terraces, erosion slopes, and glacis of the different municipalities.
